I hope you have all had a relaxing & productive summer. My modelling has been a bit patchy, following the very intense work prior to the Buxton show. The Raven 4-6-2 class has had some work on the cab roof and front running plates.

The layout now has three extra signals on it, with a starter on the down exit from part of the yard, made by Matthew Wald, and the up goods main gantry well under way by Peter Chappell.

At Buxton we were able to run John Aldrick’s Coronation set, as seen in the header photo from Craig Tiley (which can can see in the forthcoming Railway Modeller article). Needless to say, my workbench is now occupied making the bogies for our own set for CF.

Matthew has taken in hand the roughed-in over bridge for Maiden Lane station and given it a roof: this will greatly improve the finish of the layout in this area.

Of course, the big news will be our 40th birthday mini-exhibition at Keen House on 2nd & 3rd November. This will be similar to the show we staged in June 2021, but more expansive, featuring the Club’s London layouts and other visitors. The 20 page CF booklet is being re-worked by Ben Weiner and updated, whilst the layout will also feature in the November edition of the RM, with a fascinating article by Matthew.

I found this online and thought it rather well done.

It is the 70th anniversary of the film next year and CF will very likely be close to a Ladykillers diorama currently being made by Dawn Quest at Ally Pally.  Regrettably, there isn’t room for Mrs W’s house on CF.

York Road tube will be going to the Rapido Railex on 27-28th September in Maidstone; Rob Stewart is working on an automatic shuttle control for the line whilst in the not to distant future there will be a train of pre-28 Gate Stock, courtesy of Jim Watt.
