Copenhagen Fields Update March 2019

We had a good show at Basingstoke, although our sanity was sorely tried by a closeby O gauge diesel depot with loud DCC sound that closely mimicked purgatory. Our re-wire was 100% successful, so that’ll be good for another 35 years: this is entirely down to the hard work and clear thinking of Rob Stewart. …read more.

Putnam Yard Update March 2019

Recent work from the Putnam Group Main effort has been on preparing for Ally Pally by getting the existing layout ready; including ironing out some remaining track and wiring issues, redoing some damaged scenery along the front, some fettling of the backscene and numerous other little jobs. The work on the remaining hitherto unsceniced curved …read more.

Sliding Doors – Red or Blue?

Class 321 Electrical Multiple Units (nick named Dusty bins)  are the work horse unit on the Great Eastern main line through Ingatestone on the Essex and Suffolk commuter trains. They come in 4 car formations, but run in multiple to cope with the peak hour demand, so we need a number of them. Although …read more.

Ingatestone is ready for action

An update from Ingatestone – Aug 2018

Chris Ibbotson has been busy bringing a Hornby Class 90 up to a better standard. This model was fair representation when first released many years ago but suffered from many of the issues that are a result of Hornby’s wish to produce a product that was both a toy and a model.  But this has been over come by …read more.

Orchard Wharf May/June 2018 update

In the last month we’ve had several good meetings, including a ‘kick-off’ to refresh everyone’s acquaintance with the project, two meetings focused on aspects of the design, a site visit to Poplar, Canning Town and Silvertown, and a much-needed clearout of the space we need to start work on tracklaying and electrics. I would like …read more.

Wagon repair shop on DVD

Back in February, we had a wagon demonstration next to Empire Mills at the Doncaster exhibition. During the show Phil Parker from BRM interviewed Ben W about the wagons he was fettling, and the result is on the DVD that comes with the June edition of the magazine.

Electrical surgery for Copenhagen Fields

Whilst there was a wedding and some footy on TV, our crack crew of electricians were at Keen House, continuing the rewiring of the layout.   The lines are now all working correctly and the new loop on the Down Main is live and running (track will need a bit of fettling). The end of the …read more.

Reflections on Ingatestone’s first show

In the months since our last update much has been done to the layout and the common fiddleyard shared with Putnam (H0) with the main goal of taking Ingatestone (00) to the London Festival of Railway Modelling in March 2018 at Ally Pally. We intended to show the full layout, under construction but with roundie-roundie …read more.
