Going Big – Modelling to 3.5″ gauge with Live Steam

As you are obviously all well aware, our Covid 19 world has moved in to a very strange place in the last month. Many of us are is lockdown and people are allegedly going mad with nothing to do. Fortunately, most modellers have far too many incomplete projects in their stash drawers to keep them going – I certainly do.
This engine is a 3.5” gauge A3 and is currently named Papyrus. This is inaccurate for the condition of the engine and so it will be re-named as Hyperion. Over the last few days I have made the display track: quite labour intensive as it is correctly keyed and screwed to the wooden sleepers.
Today, I replaced the dome with the correct pattern. There was a lot of fettling of the casting with a 1/2” Black & Decker power file.
Stay safe
